Aim of the course:
This course serves as the conceptual and pedagogical starting point of the MOOC Supporting Innovative Pedagogies in VET through XR, establishing a shared understanding of the educational role of XR that underpins all subsequent courses in the learning pathway.
The course introduces VET teachers and trainers to the educational potential of Extended Reality (XR), focusing on how immersive technologies can support competence development, learner engagement and sustainability-oriented learning. It situates XR within contemporary pedagogical and policy frameworks relevant to vocational education and training.
Participants will reflect on how XR can be meaningfully aligned with learning objectives, vocational contexts and the green and digital transitions.
Main ideas:
- Exploring how XR can enhance teaching and learning in VET, especially in Habitat and construction-related fields.
- Understanding the pedagogical benefits and challenges of XR, including motivation, safety, inclusion, ethics and accessibility.
- Examining how XR can help visualise complex processes and support the development of green and digital competences.
- Reflecting on conditions, strategies and next steps for responsibly adopting XR within VET programmes and institutions.
