Aim of the course:
This Advanced Digitalization in Building and Civil Works course aims primarily to transform the vision of sector professionals, moving from a basic use of digital tools to the implementation of an integrated technological ecosystem that optimizes the complete life cycle of built assets.
Throughout the program, participants will develop the following strategic competencies:
- Understand true Digital Transformation: Differentiating between basic digitalization (replacing paper with digital files) and process transformation based on data, collaboration, and disruptive technologies such as BIM, IoT, and digital twins.
- Master IT/OT convergence: Learning to integrate the company’s “brain” (Information Technologies) with the “muscles” of on-site execution (Operational Technologies) to achieve total traceability and real-time decision-making.
- Implement Enabling Technologies (DET): Exploring and combining tools such as drones, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and off-site manufacturing to improve precision, safety, and environmental sustainability.
- Manage data infrastructures and security: Understanding cloud computing architectures (Cloud, Edge, Fog, and Mist) and applying cybersecurity protocols to protect the integrity and confidentiality of critical project information.
- Lead Transformation Projects: Training to perform digital SWOT diagnoses, prioritize areas for improvement using impact-effort matrices, and manage human change within organizations.
Main ideas:
- Rethinking Processes: Digitalization is not just about using digital files; it involves rethinking design and construction processes based on connectivity and the strategic use of data.
- IT/OT Integration: Operational success depends on integrating the “brain” of management (IT) with the “muscles” of physical execution on the ground (OT) to eliminate improvisation.
- Digital Ecosystem: Digital Enabling Technologies (DETs), such as BIM, IoT, and AI, are not isolated tools but an ecosystem that ensures safer, more precise, and more sustainable construction projects.
- Data as a Resource: Data is the new digital “construction material” whose lifecycle must be managed with rigor to transform it into intelligent decisions and measurable results.
- The Human Factor: Real transformation is human: technology only generates real value when people adopt it through effective change management and leadership.
